Updated Leadership Team Assignments

Updated Leadership Team Assignments
Friends,

As we prepare for the upcoming academic year and the return of our students, faculty, staff and parents I’m pleased to announce some updated school leadership team assignments for the 2021-2022 academic year. These changes are effective July 1, 2021. We look forward to seeing all of you soon! Blessings, Mr. Patterson

Dean of Students and Associate Head of School – Mr. Christopher Michael has been promoted to this newly created position. Mr. Michael’s knowledge of school operations and our student management system will allow him to focus most of his time and efforts on these two critical areas. In addition, Mr. Michael and I will be working with our upper school students on a new career and college readiness program that will be shared with all students in grades 8-12 beginning in August. Members of our leadership team will be working with our school board chair and diocese to form the RCS Student Honor Council which will assist our student community in helping promote the RCS Student Code of Conduct as outlined in the school handbook. In concert with this promotion and new duty assignment, Mr. Michael will have an office located in the Upper School building.

Dean of Enrollment Management and Financial Aid – This newly created position will focus on enrollment, retention and financial aid modeling using best practices and standards widely used in the independent school and college market. After a series of meetings and interviews, we have selected Mrs. Meredith Galazka to serve in this capacity. Mrs. Galazka brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to this position given her strong command of school counseling and post-secondary enrollment having worked for Roanoke College in the admissions office and for Botetourt County Public Schools prior to joining RCS as a school counselor in 2019.

School Counselor – Ms. Jenny Roy will serve as our school counselor for the 2021-2022 academic year. Her talents will be focused school-wide with her primary duties assigned to our lower and middle school programming. Ms. Roy will return to the classroom for many of her guidance lessons throughout the academic day and will continue her role as our testing coordinator for the PSAT/AP and other national and diocesan standardized testing in the upcoming year. Her office will be located in the library to help facilitate her access to all students and the use of that space.
