You gave … we thrive. Thank you for supporting Roanoke Catholic on March 15 Roanoke Valley Gives Day

Thank you so much for your incredible support for Roanoke Catholic during the second-annual Roanoke Valley Gives Day on March 16. Due to the 413 donors who participated:
  • We raised $85,655 in contributions for our tuition assistance programs.
  • We earned a bonus $1,000 during the 12 noon to 1 PM “Power Hour.”
  • And based on preliminary results, we earned a bonus $10,000 for taking 1st place in “most dollars raised” and another $5,000 for 2nd place in “most individual donors.”
That’s $101,655 raised in one day!
We are overwhelmed by your generosity and cannot thank you enough for entrusting us with your contributions. So many thanks also to Foundation for Roanoke Valley and its sponsors for making this event possible. We will hold a celebration breakfast on March 24 for our donors, teachers and sponsors who supported our mission of “blending learning with faith and faith with daily life!”

What is Roanoke Valley Gives Day?

It’s a 24-hour online fundraising competition between the region’s leading nonprofits in which the Foundation for Roanoke Valley awards grants of $10,000 (1st place), $5,000 (2nd) and $2,500 (3rd) to the nonprofits that either raise the most money and/or attract the most individual donors.

Last year, Roanoke Catholic earned 2nd place in both categories ($38,200 and 315 donors), earning a bonus $10,000!

Charitable contributions cover 25% of the average cost of educating a child at Roanoke Catholic (see chart below), and help support the more than 50% of our students who rely on tuition assistance to afford a Roanoke Catholic education.

We are “Catholic” not only in our faith but in the word’s original sense — “universal” or open to all families who aspire to our standards of academic excellence, familial values, and faith in the Gospel.
