RCS is excited to offer two new after-school enrichment programs starting in September: Chess Club and Bricks 4 Kidz.

Open to students from Kindergarten to Grade 12, Chess Club will meet on Mondays beginning Sept. 26, 3:15-4:15 PM, in the library. Club membership is free. “Whether you’ve never played before or know what a castle or the French defense is, Chess Club is a great way to have fun and problem-solve,” says Todd Brickman and Anita Jeyakumar, RCS parents and club organizers. A representative from the Roanoke Valley Chess Club will be present at the orientation meeting to describe its opportunities for young chess players. For more information contact Mr. Brickman, 314.807.7032 or toddbrickman@gmail.com.

Bricks 4 Kidz invites RCS students in Kindergarten to Grade 5 to experience hands-on engineering fundamentals as they build models using Lego Bricks. Bricks 4 Kidz will meet on Wednesdays, 3:00-4:00 PM, for 10 weeks Oct. 4 through Dec. 14. Cost is $125. There will be a free demo class Sept. 28 at 3:00 PM.
