Summer RCScrip Letter

July 24, 2012
Greetings everyone,

I hope you are enjoying the summer break. Our RCScrip program doesn’t rest during the summer, and with our new on-line capabilities, this summer has been the busiest and best summer ever forthe program and our participating parents.
In the first six weeks of the summer, we have had RCScrip sales of $14,900 and tuition rebates of $1,000! (That is traditional scrip sales only, which does not include Kroger).  What a concept—go on vacation, go out to eat, go to the movies, catch up on home projects, rent cars, stay at hotels, buy gas, etc., etc.—and get tuition rebates and assist in school fundraising.

Since people continue to call me and ask about the RCScrip program, I am going to go over some of the particulars of the program again.  Seven years ago, Suzanne and I, along with another parent, started the RCScrip program.  The primary and absolute goal of the program was tuition assistance for Roanoke Catholic parents.  The secondary goal was fundraising for the school.  Over these seven years, the RCScrip program has generated over 11 million dollars in sales, $600,000 in total tuition rebates with over $100,000 going directly to RCS.

In my last note I wrote about our incredibly “new and improved” RCScrip program.  The added on-line capabilities of our program are fantastic.  Last night I took four boys to a movie.  Before I left my office, I went on-line and placed my order for five tickets.  The tickets were $9.50 each ($1.00 less than at the theater) with the net cost of each ticket $8.07 since
$7.15 was the rebate going into my tuition account.  I printed out the five tickets and we enjoyed a great movie night.  At our HoneyBaked annual conference, I received my final hotel bill and did the same thing—purchased the hotel scrip and then had the front desk scan the barcode from my laptop.  I earned a $48 tuition rebate from the hotel, and more from the other “travel scrip” we had already purchased.  All of these purchases were purchases I had to make.  But by doing it through the RCScrip program, I also added to my tuition account and toward the school fundraising.

Hopefully you can understand from the above examples a few of the dozens of exciting changes and capabilities of our RCScrip program.  The most important aspect of the program you need to know is ShopWithScrip.com.  By using ShopWithScrip, you are essentially being given an easy-to-use store.  Once you set up your personal account on the site, you can shop and place orders for any of the hundreds of products carried by Great Lakes Scrip Center, our scrip provider, as well as place orders from
local vendors like Fresh Market.  You will be able to place orders at any time, from any internet-connected computer or phone, which will allow you to order between our RCScrip program’s regularly scheduled Monday order day and throughout the summer when we don’t have regular scrip office hours.

I encourage you to take advantage of the many convenient perks only available through ShopWithScrip, like the ability to add to gift cards you already own, or purchase electronic scrip certificates you can print out like I did.  Great Lakes has a secure online payment method similar to PayPal called PrestoPay allowing you to have your scrip payments debited directly from your checking account.  For those of you unable to get to the school to make your purchases, you won’t need to make that trip to drop off a check.  All of the convenient ShopWithScrip options make earning tuition rebates incredibly simple.

Let me get you started by getting you onto our ShopwithScrip website.  I can be reached the following ways:  Cell 537-6595, Work 857-4267, E-mail scrip@roanokecatholic.com  Please allow me to help your family with tuition assistance and/or fundraising for Roanoke Catholic School through the RCScrip program  Go Celtics!
